Welcome from Bruce Fister

Growing and Building is an account of how the Lord worked in my life beginning with Melissa’s and my first visit to OCF’s western conference center, Spring Canyon in the summer of 1978.  It ends with the realization of a dream fulfilled for so many OCF members who have been faithful to a vision which began at OCF’s eastern conference center, White Sulphur Springs in 1991. The story is interspersed with lessons of leadership from my life as a military officer, my 10-year tenure as OCF’s Executive Director, and the lives of those giants of faith from God’s Word.

This journey for me and my wife Melissa began in earnest during the summer of 1999, when we were unexpectedly asked to join the OCF staff as their new leader, an opportunity that we never in our wildest dreams thought would happen. The story comes to near completion with almost entirely new facilities at OCF’s two conference centers, Spring Canyon in Colorado, and White Sulphur Springs, in Pennsylvania. The story ends with the realization of hope grounded in faith. This is a story of faith, prayer and, leadership; it is a story that you’ll want to read.

OCF engages military leaders in Biblical fellowship and growth to equip them for Christ-like service at the intersection of faith, family, and profession.

What is Faith-Based Leadership?

Faith-based leadership refers to the act of leading a group of people or organization while considering the light of one’s religious, spiritual or faith related beliefs. Leaders in faith-based organizations need to develop certain skills beyond the basic communication, motivation, and delegation skills needed in business, government, politics or charities. Faith-based leaders understand they must develop their leadership style in such a way to motivate, enthuse and build respect all in the Lord’s name

Posterity will serve Him,
future generations will be told about the Lord.
They will proclaim His righteousness,
declaring to a people yet unborn . . .
